Viola
Known as "the horse with the funny haircut," Viola is an 23-year-old Norwegian Fjord Horse. She came to this country when she was 2 and has produced 10 offspring. She is the "mother" of the herd and shows great compassion and care towards others. A big "thank-you" to Barbara Lapp and The Lapp Family Farm for their loving care of Viola! Viola is currently in retirement from programs and remains at the farm and enjoys seeing all her human friends - especially if they bring her a banana! Viola is in "semi-retirement" now.

In Memoriam

In Memoriam Ruby
Our star therapy chicken was Ruby, a Rhode Island Red bantam hen. Ruby worked in various therapy and education programs for over 5 years.  She delighted in sitting on a person's lap or being carried in her basket, ran to you when you called her name, and loved to eat pizza and spaghetti! Ruby was a tough fighter as she battled cancer for over a year. During that time, she got to be a "house chicken" and was spoiled to her heart's content. She could often be found investigating any unusual noise, picking at the dogs' hair for possible nesting material, and basking in afternoon sunbeams. She passed away in her sleep on 9-4-05 and rests beneath an oak tree, pointing north, at the farm...I will miss this dear feathered spirit and sage.

In Memoriam Lady
Lady, a 22-year-old Arabian mare born here in Minnesota, retired from our program in late 2005 and died on 2-12-06. She was a very sensitive horse and made many strong connections to others. Her last years were ones of peace and gratitude for the special circle of people who cared for her, both physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In Lady's last year of life, she and her own special human found one another. With this connection accomplished, Lady was ready to leave this Earth and serve as a guide and presence for her special human. Special thanks to Dr. Erin Malone at the U of MN for her care of Lady.
