Talking to Autocar magazine, Chief Executive Jean-Philippe Imparato has confirmed the arrival of an electric concept that would lead the way for future electric models.

The concept itself is presented as an “outstanding and radical” type, with an extremely evolutionary design and futuristic interior.

As aforementioned, the electric concept will be the benchmark of Peugeot`s future models, which will be offered in petrol, diesel and electric variants. About that, Imperato has also explained:

“One hundred per cent of new launches will have electrified versions from 2019. You will buy your Peugeot and choose the engine for your need. It will not be the same in every country and city, and we must cope with that.”

“So we put in place a modular platform, and you will choose diesel if you want to, petrol if it’s for you. Each launch will have three powertrains: diesel, petrol and electrified.”

So far, Peugeot has released an impressive concept at the Geneva Motor Show last year, called the Instinct Concept. It came out with a fabulous design highlighted by sucide-style rear doors, bright blue paintjobe, sculptural fenders, futuristic headlights and LED taillights.

Once emerging on designated markets worldwide, the updated Peugeot 301 Sedan will come available with four engines under the hood.

We are looking here at a 1.2-liter inline-three with 82 horsepower, closely followed by a 1.6-liter flat-four, developing 115 horsepower. Next in line is the 1.6-liter diesel four-cylinder with two setups – 92 horsepower and 100 horsepower, respectively. ”We are very involved in competition sport, like Dakar, and we don’t want to lose this space with our cars. I don’t think we will develop an RCZ replacement. On each level of our range — 308, 208 — we will have something impressive in performance. Do we work on a new RCZ or on the fact that the next 308 will be a beast?” Imparato also concluded.

Once arriving on the market, the Peugeot 308 Hybrid R would come with the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and two powerful electric motors, with an overall power of 493 horsepower and massive 730 Nm of torque, enought to deliver a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a mind-blowing in around 4.0 seconds.

However, according to recent reports, the model is expected to come with a detuned power of around 400 horsepower, which would bring it closer to the Mercedes-AMG A45 or Audi RS3 Sportback. But for the moment, all we have is Imparato`s blurred statements on a possible 308 Hybrid R production version.

The 2016 Peugeot 3008 stands on the carmaker`s new EMP2 platform which sheds-ff around 100 kilos, making it more agile and faster than the previous generation 3008.

Having a closer look at the pictures with the compact crossover, we definitely recognize its higher ground clearance, the model now being raised with around 22 cm, which makes it the perfect candidate for all-road and off-road capabilities.

In the engine department, the 2016 Peugeot 3008 SUV comes with a wide range of engines, with the carmaker focusing on the all-new and more powerful 1.6-liter petrol engine, with 165 horsepower, or the 1.6 HDI with 100 horsepower in the five-speed manual, or 120 horsepower in the six-speed automatic transmission. Inside, the model has grown significantly in terms of space, and is now coming with an increase legroom of 36 mm, while the trunk space has been raised with 90 liters. As for the gadgetry and gizmos, the cabin boasts with a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster with five view modes, adding an eight-inch capacitive touchscreen for the infotainment system, high-end sound system with 10 speakers, subwoofer and 12-channle amplifier.

Once it will emerge on the market at the end of the year, the 2016 Peugeot 3008 will become the perfect competitor of the newly arrived Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, VW Tiguan or Renault Kadjar.

The Peugeot 5008 adopts the carmaker`s overall design also seen on other models, only that this one is bigger and coming with a seven-seat arrangement.

The Peugeot 5008 is built on the Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP20), the same one underpinning other fresh models within the group.

This allows improved cargo capacity inside, with an overall of 1,060 liter. Other important highlights at the interior concerning space management, refer to seating arrangement with three matching and separate second row folding seats, adjustable in length and inclination third row folding seats, wide panoramic opening glass rood, 3D navigation, FOCAL Premium Hi-Fi system and so on.
