<p><strong>The company <a href="https://www.automotorblog.com/porsche/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Porsche</a> has a classic heritage of the 911, which is undergoing a high-performance upgrade that is both a nostalgic throwback and progressive, with Singer, a California-based company that has announced a throwback to the mid-1980s widebody Carrera Cabriolet. These custom-made machines will be produced in a limited number, only 75 of them will ever make the road, and they will be a rare work of automotive art.</strong></p>



<p>It has always been Singer who has been associated with taking modern 911s and reinventing them with the past in mind. Their most recent product, named the 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined by Singer, is inspired by the G-series of the 1980s, but it is built on a 964 Cabriolet of the modern era. It has produced an open-top, wide-body coupe that looks exactly like the original but is put on a chassis that has been hardened, widened, and covered with carbon-fiber panels to give a combination of <a href="https://www.automotorblog.com/classics/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">classic</a> appearance and modern durability.</p>



<p>The level of attention to detail is impressive. The taillights and front indicators are a reminiscence of the Porsche 911 G-series styling but more slender, clean, and operate on LED, and provide the car with a slightly modern feel whilst maintaining the old-fashioned shape. The modern buyers are able to customize the vehicle using iconic features like the whale tail spoiler or the subtle active spoiler under the engine cover, where they may decide the extent of the &#8217;80s feel they may want to retain. The 18-inch wheels are custom-made, based on the so-called Fuchs concept that characterized the 911 in those times, and hence even the wheels seem like a ticket to the past.</p>

<p>Singer has collaborated with Cosworth to come up with a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated boxer six under the hood. The engine retains the air-cooled tradition of Porsche, however, revising it with four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, and water-cooled manifolds, which generate 420 horsepower. Power is sent out to the rear wheels with a six-speed <a href="https://www.automotorblog.com/ford-mustang-manual-transmission-problems-112141.html" target="_blank" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.automotorblog.com/ford-mustang-manual-transmission-problems-112141.html" rel="noreferrer noopener">manual transmission</a>, and the lightweight beast is kept in check with a limited-slip differential as well as front-and-rear custom suspension in both on-track and on-street situations.</p>



<p>The interior is customizable just like the exterior. All the parts can be reconfigured to the preferences of the buyer, including upholstery and trim. Singer goes further to provide two roof choices with a rigid carbon-fiber roof painted the car body color to blend the smooth appearance, or a traditional canvas top for those who are more comfortable with a more traditional convertible feel.</p>

<p>Porsche is about to get a new CEO after Oliver Blume has been the chief executive of the company for a decade. Despite the rather dire situation the German company is facing right now, rumors have been floating around that Porsche has been negotiating with a potential successor to Blume.</p>



<p>He may be Michael Leiters, the former head of McLaren. According to the German media, around the turn of the year, Oliver Blume, the chief executive officer of the parent company Porsche, the <a href="https://www.automotorblog.com/breaking-news-volkswagen-group-wants-to-cut-costs-by-selling-the-italdesign-company-114740.html" target="_blank" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.automotorblog.com/breaking-news-volkswagen-group-wants-to-cut-costs-by-selling-the-italdesign-company-114740.html" rel="noreferrer noopener">Volkswagen Group</a>, will step down. This will allow him the capacity to focus on his leadership position.</p>

This fall, the cherished roadsters will conclude their existing generation, ending a chapter in the history of sports car fans.</p>



<p>Since they were introduced in 2016, the 718 Cayman and Boxster have earned a reputation for their speed and enjoyable driving. Since it all began at the Porsche plant in Zuffenhausen, 2022 saw a transfer of some production activities to the plant in Osnabrück. Both models were sold fewer in Europe last year as their marketing switched to being aimed only at Asian and American customers.</p>



<p>According to Frank Wiesmann, the last examples of the <a href="https://www.automotorblog.com/us-2017-porsche-718-cayman-launched-flat-four-mills-90328.html" target="_blank" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.automotorblog.com/us-2017-porsche-718-cayman-launched-flat-four-mills-90328.html" rel="noreferrer noopener">718 Cayman</a> and <a href="https://www.automotorblog.com/porsche-718-boxster-officially-launched-87671.html" target="_blank" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.automotorblog.com/porsche-718-boxster-officially-launched-87671.html" rel="noreferrer noopener">718 Boxster</a> will leave the plant in October. As a result, their production cycle ends on a high note, with continuous noteworthy mixes of sports features and usefulness.</p>

<p>Porsche saw sales of 23,670 Boxster and Cayman cars in 2022, putting them at the top of most sports car fanatics’ lists. Still, as the industry focuses on sustainability, Porsche is readying these models for a new era with electric siblings. The shift toward <a href="https://www.automotorblog.com/electric-cars/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">electric vehicles</a> is in line with what many industries are doing and what Porsche has always supported.</p>

<p>I have personally driven a 996 Carrera with an M96 engine, and I was not disappointed by its great performance.
