<p>Sahara is perfect for use cases that are outdoors and require up to 20 meters sensing capabilities, such as robotics, automotive, trucking and university research. It has a IP69K rating and holds up in harsh ambient light settings. The small packaging is designed for flexibility of placement at 110mm x 45mm x 33mm.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BORREGO</h2>



<p>The Borrego sensor is designed to provide long, narrow space coverage for security, logistics and agriculture applications. The &#8220;out of the way&#8221; undetectable design has a protective mounting secured behind a support beam, positioning Borrego to not be an obstruction to precious cargo or draw attention. Bluetooth connectivity gives options in mounting placement and also reduces costs in installation. Accurate volume determination of a cargo container is an example of an application perfectly suited for Borrego.</p>

By standardizing operations across its manufacturing plants, Modineer is implementing a consistent, repeatable, and scalable program launch methodology that provides clarity and confidence to both internal stakeholders and OEM customers.</p>



<p>Modineer operates in a make-to-program environment where it engineers and delivers components to exact customer specifications. The company has enhanced and expanded its fabrication capabilities through a series of acquisitions and capital investment. Its Vice President of IT, Mike Lewandowski, was brought in with the purpose of unifying processes and deploying best-in-class systems across the entire company.</p>

<p>Actify, the leading provider of visualization and program management solutions for the automotive supply chain, today announced that WISA Werkzeug-und Formenbau GmbH, has adopted SpinFire Enterprise to provide all employees with the access to 2D and 3D CAD files they require to do their best work, reduce administrative overhead of managing licenses, streamlining documentation workflows and simplifying data exchange with customers, increasing communication and overall job efficiency.</p>



<p>Headquartered in Bavaria, Germany, WISA Werkzeug- und Formenbau GmbH (WISA) is a medium-sized company that has carved out a respected position over the past 30+ years developing and manufacturing technically sophisticated tooling and molds for customers across a variety of industries, including automotive. Historically, the company exchanged drawings and parts lists with customers in paper form. Increasingly, however, the information they needed to successfully produce their complex tooling and molds was contained in 2D and 3D CAD files.</p>



<p>&#8220;The move away from paper towards digital files made it all the more important for every employee to be able to look at and access this data,&#8221; explained Torsten Decker, Managing Director of WISA. &#8220;Not everyone who wants to check a few dimensions in a CAD file needs the full functionality of an expensive CAD tool, especially since it&#8217;s not necessarily that easy to use either. In addition, customers provide us with data in a wide variety of formats, and we were sometimes unable to read them in &#8211; we needed to find a better way to handle visualization of CAD data.”</p>



<p>After thoroughly researching different CAD viewer offerings, the company quickly selected SpinFire from Actify as the best option. SpinFire gives teams everything they need to view and interrogate assemblies, parts, and drawings in <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://actify.com/cad-formats/" rel="noreferrer noopener">all major 2D and 3D CAD formats</a>. The tool not only visualizes design data, but also provides analysis tools with functions such as measurement, dimensioning, wall thickness analysis, exploded view, and markups, among others. <p>Despite its powerful functionality, one of SpinFire’s key benefits is its intuitive, user-friendly nature. An introduction to the tool only takes 15-30 minutes, and the most important functions can be learned quickly – something that WISA’s teams have greatly appreciated. At first, WISA only used the software tool in the calculation and quotation preparation department. Later, a single license was added in the work preparation department, and additional licenses were added to other teams over time, depending on requirements.</p>



<p>The growing demand for the solution across the organization led the company to realize that the Enterprise version of SpinFire would make the most sense, allowing them to take advantage of a single enterprise-wide license. Now, every PC in WISA – from the purchasing and sales departments, to design and manufacturing – has a powerful CAD viewer that employees can leverage.</p>



<p>&#8220;We no longer need to handle licenses because a SpinFire Enterprise license covers an unlimited number of workstations at our company,” said Decker. “As a side benefit, this greatly reduces the administrative effort – which makes the IT department happy. That widespread deployment is important, because otherwise the chain is broken.&#8221;</p>



<p>The importance of this “unbroken chain” across departments has been demonstrated multiple times, with one particular instance of helping a customer troubleshoot issues with their new molding tool helping to paint the picture.</p>



<p>&#8220;Before we could assist the customer, we had to really understand how the tooling worked,” said Decker. “That&#8217;s where SpinFire helps us, with features like sectional views through the assemblies. Colleagues from the assembly and design departments looked at the 3D data together and sent the customer suggestions for optimizing his tool. Once these suggestions were approved, the design was modified in a CAD system. Finally, the team used SpinFire to add manufacturing notes to the 3D data and create screenshots for capacity planning. Everywhere you look, the tool has its fingers in the pie, so to speak.”</p>



<p>This type of widespread usage has resulted in more efficient workflows: nearly all tooling or mold information can be stored in the 3D CAD model and accessed via SpinFire. As a result, additional PowerPoint or PDF documents are no longer required, streamlining documentation efforts. Design and production are hardly the only areas that benefit from SpinFire. The CAD viewer has also ensured greater accuracy around purchasing, making incorrect orders for materials much less frequent.</p>



<p>The small file size of the 3D SpinFire data – and the associated minimal hardware requirements – provides another key benefit. This is particularly noticeable with very complex assemblies, such as those typical for WISA&#8217;s injection molds.</p>



<p>“After saving a two gigabyte CAD file in the compact SpinFire file format, the file size is reduced to about 60 megabytes,” said Decker. “This makes it much easier to handle the data and exchange it with the customer. No matter what the customer sends us &#8211; we can read it in &#8211; That’s priceless.”</p>



<p>Ultimately, SpinFire Enterprise has made many aspects of WISA&#8217;s daily work easier and more efficient, from licensing and customer communication, to troubleshooting and material planning. <p>Actify, the leading provider of visualization and program management solutions for the automotive supply chain, today announced that Mayco International (Mayco) has chosen Actify SpinFire Enterprise to bring organization-wide collaboration to CAD files, allowing all team members across all departments to instantly open any CAD file in any format, increasing speed at which team members can make business decisions and execute crucial tasks.</p>



<p>Headquartered in Michigan with 43 global locations across nine countries, Mayco provides design, engineering, tooling, manufacturing, assembly, sequencing, logistics, and systems integration services as part of its overall mission to be the Tier 1 automotive supplier of choice for its customers. Efficiently carrying out that mission requires a fair amount of technological groundwork behind the scenes, including giving different team members throughout the organization the ability to view CAD files that contained important information.</p>



<p>“Someone in purchasing might need to look at 3D drawings for a particular component they&#8217;re procuring from a vendor,” explained Ted Lukiewski, IT Director at Mayco. “Pretty much our only choice is to either buy them a license for the CAD application that created the file, or to buy them a CAD viewer. That might be fine if they only received Catia files. But the next day, they might receive a Pro E file, and the day after that, an NX or AutoCAD file, and we’re back to square one, trying to get them access to the information they’ve received.”</p>



<p>One consequence of this challenging situation is that “workarounds” would develop: Teams that didn’t have a CAD application or viewer would lean on members of the design and engineering team to open files for them, pulling designers and engineers away from their core tasks. Additionally, the situation placed a substantial burden on the IT department, while slowing down the overall speed with which various departments could carry out their work.</p>



<p>“We were handling nearly 20 tickets a month related to gaining access to CAD files,” said Lukiewski. “The time really adds up: You have to put in a purchasing requisition, get a PO and price quote for the product, purchase it, install it, and then show the user how to use it. That’s a multi-day affair – and if I’m a program manager or a purchasing estimator, that’s too much time. They need to make decisions ASAP.”</p>



<p>Actify SpinFire Enterprise was an ideal solution to the challenges Mayco was experiencing. An enterprise visualization solution, SpinFire Enterprise provides a way for entire organizations to view, mark-up, and fully analyze 2D and 3D CAD data in all the major formats.</p>



<p>“We could have tried adding a few more floating licenses of various CAD applications and CAD viewers, but that approach just wasn’t scalable,” said Lukiewski. “Also, most of the viewers didn’t provide a way to do basic mark-up or file conversion, which would have created bottlenecks in the workflows. We did some back of the napkin math and realized that getting the enterprise edition of SpinFire was a very smart choice, cost wise.”</p>



<p>Mayco decided to make SpinFire Enterprise part of its standard desktop load across the organization, so that every single team member in every department would be able to open whatever 2D or 3D CAD files they needed to access.</p>



<p>“It doesn’t matter if our users receive a Catia file or an NX file or a Pro E file,” said Lukiewski. “They just click on it, and it opens up in SpinFire Enterprise. They don’t have to do anything on their end to make that access happen – and in many cases, they don’t even realize they’re using SpinFire Enterprise. That’s the best kind of tool there is, as far as I’m concerned: one that users don’t even have to think about – it just works.”</p>



<p>With SpinFire Enterprise in place across the organization, Mayco has been able to experience several significant benefits. For starters, team members no longer have to contact IT or resort to unofficial workarounds in order to open up and view CAD files – greatly speeding up their turnaround time on their various tasks.</p>



<p>“Using SpinFire Enterprise, we’ve reduced the wait time for end users to get access to an important CAD file from 3-6 days to 0 days,” said Lukiewski. “The resolution of their problem is instantaneous: They click on the file, and SpinFire Enterprise opens it for them so that they can start acting upon that information.”</p>



<p>As much as teams like purchasing and estimating have benefited from SpinFire Enterprise’s capabilities, Mayco has also been pleasantly surprised at unexpected use cases that have sprung up across the organization.</p>



<p>“Our HR and Health &amp; Safety department uses it quite a bit, which wasn’t something we initially foresaw,” said Lukiewski. “As an enterprise-wide solution, SpinFire didn’t just solve the specific problems we had; it also gave us the solution to problems that we didn&#8217;t even <em>know</em> we had.”</p>
