Currently, the company has unveiled a specially designed pickup truck that has a frame and an extraordinary design, which makes it possible to adjust the bed of the truck according to different heights and positions; thus, they are very useful in loading and unloading the truck, right?

Further, there are four editions of the Rivian R1T (which I will list below), which provide a power output that ranges from 533 up to 1025 horsepower and accelerations from 4.5 to only 2.5 for 0-60mph. This specialty model of the sport utility vehicle is starting from $76,900, and I think you may already long to drive such a great pickup truck!

From my perspective, the price of the Rivian truck seems quite affordable considering all the models of electric vehicles. For instance, Tesla Model S which has been in the market for several years has been the market leader in sales of electric cars has a base price of 79, 990 US dollars. First, it is the starting price: the Rivian R1T costs even less than Model S; second, it offers a different vision of the electric vehicle that cannot be said about Tesla.

Moreover, Rivian has some extra packs and features which could be also installed in the truck. These include a Camp Kitchen package, a Gear Tunnel, a Launch Package among others. Despite its agile on-road handling, some reviewers wish it drove more like its sibling, the R1T pickup truck. However, what sets the R1S apart from other EVs is its exceptional off-road capabilities, with an adjustable air suspension providing up to 15 inches of ground clearance and a Quad-Motor option featuring a separate electric motor for each wheel, allowing for maximum control on various terrains. This off-road capability surpasses even that of many traditional gasoline-powered SUVs, such as the Land Rover Discovery. Additionally, the R1S offers a commendable range, with the Standard battery pack providing around 260 miles per charge and the optional Large pack extending that to 316 miles.

New Features for Rivian R1S in 2023

The R1S is a vehicle model that was introduced during the later part of the 2022 model year and will continue to be available without any updates for the 2023 model year. Rivian, the company behind the R1S, has already released several software updates that can be applied wirelessly, which have unlocked features such as Camp Mode, Pet Mode, and driving modes specifically designed for soft sand and snow. Currently, the Adventure edition is the only option available for the R1S. However, a more affordable Explore variant is expected to be released in the near future. To achieve the highest driving range of 316 miles, it is recommended to opt for the Large battery pack at an additional cost of $6000. The Adventure model comes with all the top features of the SUV as standard.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

The R1S, a vehicle that shares similar features with its R1T pickup counterpart, comes standard with a Dual-Motor setup producing a total of 600 horsepower and all-wheel drive. However, for those looking for even more power, an upgrade to the Quad-Motor powertrain is available, increasing horsepower to 835 and enabling the vehicle to reach 60 mph in a mere 3.1 seconds. This powertrain also provides all-wheel drive and exceptional off-road capabilities thanks to an electric motor at each wheel. Additionally, all models are equipped with an adjustable air suspension that allows for a ground clearance range of 8 to 15 inches. Although the R1S has some impressive features, in testing, we found that the steering and ride control left something to be desired. The R1T pickup, on the other hand, performed much better in these areas, indicating that the R1S has the potential to improve in these areas.

When it comes to off-roading capabilities, the R1T is fully equipped with ample ground clearance and minimal overhangs, making it a formidable option for rough terrain. While the question of recharging in remote areas remains unanswered, the R1T’s off-roading capabilities provide peace of mind knowing it can handle the toughest terrain.

The Rivian R1T boasts an impressive feature of an adjustable air suspension that can raise and lower the ride height by 6.5 inches, making it easy for people to enter and exit the vehicle. The doors are also of a good size, providing ample head and leg clearance, as long as the gear tunnel doors are closed when getting out of the rear seats. The vehicle offers ample passenger space both in the front and the rear. Although the rear seat may not be as spacious as a full-size crew cab, it is still better than most midsize trucks. However, the R1T’s user interface, which relies heavily on a large central touchscreen, proved to be a downside in our early-production test vehicle as it was found to be glitchy and unresponsive.

The R1T may seem pricey for a midsize truck, but it truly justifies its cost. The build quality and materials used in the vehicle are top-notch, making it feel solid and durable. The cabin design is also well-suited for the truck’s price point. However, there are some minor issues, such as software glitches and slight imperfections in the interior trim, which are to be expected from a new car company. Despite these small drawbacks, the R1T is a fantastic first effort. In addition to its impressive design and build quality, Rivian also offers a comprehensive warranty for the R1T. Customers can enjoy five years or 60,000 miles of coverage, as well as an eight-year/175,000-mile powertrain and battery warranty, which guarantees a battery capacity of at least 70%. Additionally, the truck is protected against corrosion for eight years or unlimited miles. Roadside assistance is also available for the duration of the comprehensive warranty.
