The Spanish automaker is building these batteries at its Martorell facility which represents an important step toward more sustainable transport. SEAT wants to build more electric vehicles and that is why these batteries will soon be used in their best and newest models.

This 300 million euro investment by SEAT in its new battery plant reflects how committed it is to electric vehicles. It will allow SEAT to produce up to 300,000 batteries each year, preparing the company to increase its electric vehicle range. It both demonstrates SEAT’s determination to improve its battery technology and makes the company more competitive across the fast-changing auto world.

With its design from the 2022 UrbanRebel concept, the future Cupra Raval could shake up the electric vehicle industry. How to Move from One Platform to Another

The new model’s Cupra Leon shall be grounded on the Volkswagen Group’s SSP (Small Series Platform). This highly flexible platform will enable the model to optimize its performance, safety, and efficiency levels. However, by entrenching the new model in the SSP, Cupra is ensuring the new and up-and-coming models of its vehicles will incorporate these latest technologies ensuring the brand remains relevant in a market dominated by elegant and luxury cars.

The Cupra e-Racer is not only incredibly fast but it is also a good looker, showing off with a radical design. Xavier Sera, technical director of the Cupra e-Racer has recently explained that the goal of such design “was to improve aerodynamics”.

On the other hand, the raw sound of the racer was also described as being “similar to a mosquito”, and even if Sera didn’t quite succeed in achieving that, the engine soundtrack is pretty much amazing.

Just like other high-end racers, the interior of the Cupra e-Racer has been enhanced with carbon fiber components, which shed-off significant weight. It does make it faster. We are dealing here with a custom-built steering wheel, carbon roll cage and three separate displays.

Besides the lightweight characteristics inside, the car`s chassis, which is a Seat Leon in fact, has been also customized to such extend that it is now “suitable for competing” and tackling other high-performance racers.

As Xavier also declared, “one of this vehicle`s most surprising aspects has to be its power”, as “the Cupra e-Racer can reach 12,000 revolutions, compared to the 6,500 of a petrol powered racer car, and all with a single gear.”

Let`s elaborate – the Cupra e-Racer packs no less than four electric motors which churn out a total of 670 horsepower, meaning that it can “fly” from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, at a top speed of 270 km/h. This means that the e-Racer is as fast as the Huracan LP610-4 from Lamborghini.

From a visual standpoint, the new Leon Cupra R comes with distinctive fender extensions, adding as well carbon fiber components – new front splitter, side skirts, rear wing and rear diffuser. All these allow for improved aerodynamic efficiency by 12.5 percent over the standard Cupra.

As for interior features, these include copper trims on the console and dashboard, plus Alcantara on the steering wheel and gear lever, or copper stitching on the bucket seats.

It is already known that the 2018 Seat Leon Cupra R is the most powerful Leon model ever built by the Spanish carmaker, packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, and developing 306 horsepower. The power is sent to the wheels via a manual transmission which allows a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. The top speed is rated at 250 km/h. There is also the six-speed DSG variant with around 296 horsepower.

Seat also announced that the 2018 Leon Cupra R will be limited to just 799 examples, 499 coming with manual transmission and the rest with the DSG. Prices will be announced at a later date.

Mechanically, the 2018 Seat Leon Cupra R is extremely advanced, featuring a front-wheel drive configuration with tuned adaptive suspension system and electronically limited-slip differential. The hardcore model also comes with wider tracks front and rear with modified camber angles, 370 mm Brembo brakes, or updated adaptive steering rack and exhaust system.

Following last month`s rumors, representatives from the company have also confirmed the arrival of the new Seat Leon Cupra R on the market. For instance, Auto Express have interviewed Vice President Matthias Rabe, who recently stated:

“The core values of Cupra must remain – it must be fun to drive but something you can use every day, because this is not a car that is bought by people who have five or six other cars. So I don’t think a Cupra would be as extreme as a Porsche 911 GT3, for example. And even if we went further, it would still have four or five seats.”

This means that the model will come with some interesting improvements at the chassis, meaning that the engineers from Cupra will use carbon fiber components, which will make it extremely lightweight and will improve its performance. And the costs involved will also make it a limited-run edition.

Once it will arrive on the market in around eight months, the new Seat Leon Cupra R “will be a fantastic car”, with lots of technology inside and the latest mechanics. Not to forget the new styling add-ons. As for the engine under the hood, Matthia Rave has not revealed any details on that matter yet. Still waiting for fresh news.

Even so, there were a couple of photos launched with the model ahead the event, which look just like the leaked ones a couple of months ago. Even if we are dealing here with low-resolution pictures, we can still depict the new Seat`s appealing design.

The photos were launched online by Motofilm from Poland, and is showcasing the car`s exterior style, which is way far too advanced than the present model.

It also comes with plenty of styling cues from the new Leon, while the interior has now been tweaked with premium materials, more angular lines, highlighted as well by the new high-tech gizmos, including an up-to-date wide screen for the infotainment system in the center console.

Judging by its new and more evolutionary look, the all-new 2017 Seat Ibiza will also be the inspiration for a long-expected crossover, which will be placed beneath the Seat Ateca SUV, coming with lots of new mechanics and high-tech gadgetries inside.

In the engine department, the 2017 Seat Ibiza comes with the same small displacements also found on other models within the Volkswagen Group, meaning an entry-level 1.0-liter turbocharged three-pot and the 1.5-liter TSI petrol, followed by a wide range of high-performance and fuel-efficient TDI diesels. Full details will be revealed in Geneva, this March!

We are looking here at an updated version of the current model, which brings fresh a couple of new exterior colours, new safety features and an engine upgrade. Is it less, is it much? It`s just up to you to figure that out once you compare both the previous and the new models.

At the exterior, the all-new 2017 Seat Leon Cupra can be had with two metallic paintjobs – the Mystery Blue and Desire Red – adding full LED headlights and new alloy wheels. As far as the safety features concern, we can have it with the Pedestrian Protection, Emergency Assist, Traffic Jam Assist for the DSG versions and so on.

In the engine department, both the 2017 Seat Leon Cupra Estate and the Wagon are equipped with an upgraded engine which is now churning out 300 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, quite impressive than the previous 286 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Both versions use a standard six-speed manual or an optional dual-clutch transmission.

Even if the performance figures are not yet released, both the estate and the wagon come with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. in the previous generation the model allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds with the DSG transmission, so we should expect less than that in the updated versions.

And for the moment, the Volkswagen`s subsidiary can brag with the most important model within its lineup, which is now other than the Seat Leon Cupra. So successful it is, that it has now welcomed a new brother in the shape of the ST Wagon, coming with an all-wheel drive configuration.

Just like the standard Seat Leon Cupra, the ST wagon will come with rather the same styling features, while the interior benefits from the same high-tech treatment, including the newly-updated eight-inch infotainment system with wireless support and other cool gadgetries.

In the safety system department, the all-new 2017 Seat Leon Cupra ST is also had with the same features, including Lane Assist, Pedestrian Protection, Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, adding as well other cool stuffs like electric parking braking system, keyless entry with push button start, adaptive chassis control, progressive steering system, electronic self-locking differential and so on.

In the engine department, the new Leon Cupra ST wagon comes with a 2.0-liter TSI engine, developing 300 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, which is quite impressive. The power is sent to all wheels via a high-performance dual-clutch transmission. Overall, we are looking here at a power upgrade of 10 horsepower and 30 Nm of torque. Prices for the ST wagon will be revealed at a later date.

We are looking here at some important updates regarding the exterior as well as under the hood. In case you want it to make it more interesting from a styling point of view, you can dress up the Ateca with new protective strip on the bumper, tailgate mounted rear spoiler, or side strakes on the rear window.

The rear end can be also equipped with two tailpipes, with either an 80- or a 90 mm choice, available for all diesel versions with power between 110 kW and 140 kW.

In order to make it look more aggressive, there is also the new set of lowering springs, which lower the car`s ride height by 30 mm, along with custom dampers and the new 20-inch alloy wheels, finished in matte black. In case you want something fancier, then you can also choose the 21-inch in matte black or graphite front polished.

In the engine department, the model can also be had with a new power kit, which raises the Ateca`s power to a total 210 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, quite good from the standard 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The new model comes with subtle changes at the exterior, but even so, it remains an exciting car to watch and drive. It now features a new front bumper and updated grille with chrome accents complemented with the LED ambient lighting at the interior.

In the technology area, the 2017 Leon promises to be updated with the new 8-inch screen, along the Easy Connect infotainment system, Seat Full Link and SEAT ConnectApp. In the comfort zone, the model has also received Alcantara and leather on the new XCELLENCE trim.

Besides the high-tech goodies, the model is also tweaked with the latest safety features, consisting of Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Assist and ACC, Pedestrian Protection System, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Detection, Emergency Assist and High Beam Assist, advanced parking assist technology and much more.

In the engine department, the all-new 2017 Seat Leon is equipped with tow diesels, a 1.6 and 90 HP, as well as a 2.0 and 184 HP, while the petrol comes with a new 1.6 and 115 HP or a smaller 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder and 115 HP. Later on, the 2017 Seat Leon Cupra top of the line will also join the rest of the lineup.
