Currently, the maker`s legendary Seven sports car has turned 60, a special occasion which had to be celebrated with a special limited model in the shape of the Seven Sprint.

The Caterham Seven was launched in the 1960s and the current Seven Sprint takes its inspiration from the original model, coming with exquisite colors and body styling features. It will be displayed at Goodwood Revival, this weekend.

From a visual standpoint, the Caterham Seven Sprint comes with a choice of six colors, the same one found on the original car, adding the cream colored wheels, polished chrome hubcaps, as well as the standout rear taillights.

Inside, the cabin welcomes you with a retro feel, highlighted by the classic instrument cluster, wooden, three-spoke steering, red dashboard and scarlet red upholstery.

In the engine department, the Caterham Seven Sprint comes equipped with the classic 660 cc three-cylinder engine, developing a good 80 horsepower. Since it comes with the company`s strict philosophy concerning lightweight material usage, this lad here is also wearing the same chassis, which allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a mind-blowing 6.9 seconds.

In case you are interested in buying a model, you should hurry up, as only 60 units will be produced worldwide, each one coming with a price tag of £27,995. The Caterham Seven Sprint limited edition can be observed in the media gallery below.

The carmaker has soon released its latest model on the United Kingdom, the all-new Seven 310, which comes handy for a good price of £24,995 and impressive performance under the hood.

The 2017 Caterham Seven 310 takes its power from the Seven 270 version, this one benefiting from an ECU remapping and custom-built camshafts, making it more powerful than the 270. Chief Motorsport and Technical Officer at Caterham, Simon Lambert, better explains the car`s powertrain:

“When we were going through the engineering process on the race engine upgrade, we had one eye on the aftermarket, of course. But, once the re-worked car hit the road, we knew it was far too good to be marketed simply as an option. The Seven 310 was born”.

Speaking about performance, the 2017 Caterham Seven 310 comes with a good 152 horsepower, allowing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in an extraordinary 4.8 seconds, at a topping of 203 km/h. This makes it a little bit closer to a BMW model, and is achieved thanks to the car`s lightweight architecture and low stance, not to mention the light engine.

Besides the good power and performance figure, the 2017 Caterham Seven 310 also packs LED headlights, new lowering suspension system and optional new alloy wheels.

The good news is that the upgrade is also available for the present Caterham Seven 270 as well, the entire power kit costing £1,495. The model can be also admired in an impressive photo gallery below.

Well, for those that think the brand is a winner, they might soon have the chance to buy it all, if they can spare £350 million.

Apparently this is exactly what the brand is worth, with everything that comes with it, like the Caterham Cars Ltd., Caterham F1, Caterham Technology and Innovation and Caterham Composites. To our best knowledge, Caterham is not a company that is slowly sinking in debt.

In fact, most recent news point toward Caterham expanding into more segments, so why would the owner decide to sell the company? From the looks of it, the most plausible reason seems to be related to Caterham F1 not managing to do anything this season. Couple that with the fact that the owner lost some money with its football team, and it all comes in place. Well, whatever happens next, we hope that the Caterham name will live on, as their track cars are quite enjoyable.

Yet, in recent months, the British car maker has been advertising changes in the vehicle lineup.

The most recent piece of news reveals Caterham’s motorcycle division, along with the first three models to emerge from this new branch of the manufacturer. These three models will be launched in the spring, and Caterham dubbed them Classic E-Bike, Carbon E-Bike and Brutus 750.

The first to hit the streets will be the Brutus 750, which the manufacturer describes as the SUV of bikes. That is quite a bold claim from Caterham, and promises it will be just as home off road as it is on the road. It will also be the first ever bike to use an automatic transmission.

Next will come the Carbon E-Bike, followed shortly by the Classic E-Bike, the latter having the unique advantage of not needing a license to drive on European roads.

The practice usually entails a gradual release of information about the certain model, usually starting with a rumor, then a confirmation, then a teaser, after which the floodgates open.

Not so long ago, Caterham announced several models to come in the following years, and not just track cars, as they are looking to make their debut in the more mainstream part of the industry. So naturally, we can expect them to come up with some teasers.

Now they did, and it is about their new top of the line Seven model, with an official unveiling at the Singapore F1 this month. What is interesting the way they chose to present their teaser, putting a unique spin on the traditional practice. They chose to draw the silhouette of the new model on their F1 car, something you don’t see every day. Problem is that once the F1 vehicle starts to move, you won’t make much of the teaser, so the traditional media will still be the main way we actually get to see something.

It is quite a good thing, although we can’t be certain if their well being is the reason behind it or they are clinging to some hopes of revitalizing their brands.

Caterham has huge plans for their products. Besides the bold move of expanding their vehicle fleet with an all new sedan and crossover, they also decided to offer more variants for their iconic Seven model. They have already confirmed and entry level Seven, but details were vague at best.

Now the British car maker announces some more news about the model. It seems they chose Suzuki to provide the powerhouse. Displacing just 660 cc and running on three cylinders, the engine is designed to keep down the overall weight of the vehicle, a vehicle that will be the lightest Seven yet.

More that the make and displacement we don’t really know anything about the unit, but performance figures are sure to surface soon. Oh, and we also get the teaser photo above.

As their 40th anniversary is coming closer, they decided to bring up front a special model, the Caterham Seven. The pack of 40 cars will have a special edition plaque, limited, signed as 40YOC.

Such an anniversary however would not have gone marked by just a plaque, hence a whole set of other changes applied to the little Caterham Seven.

Just to name a few of them, the leather seats will be hand tailored, customized stripes on the bonnet and new wheels at 15 inch, made from silver. Furthermore, these Caterham Seven models will get a special aluminum key, also custom made.

It sounds so good that you want to buy it? Unfortunately, you are a little late because all these 40 Caterham Seven were sold.

With nothing left to do but to wait for a next major anniversary, we can now only admire it in photos.

Now, the latest news from Caterham confirm an entry level Seven that will hit the dealers this autumn.

As the CEO, Graham Macdonald put it, “the new entry-level Seven will be uncomplicated, easy to run and, most important of all, an intuitive and exciting drive.” That doesn’t really answer many questions, but considering this year is the 40 years anniversary of Caterham, this new Seven promises to be quite a fun-filled treat.

Under the hood, the entry level Caterham Seven will sport an Euro 6 compliant engine and for takers, the price tag will be around the 17.000 GBP mark. Until fall is upon us, more detail are sure to surface on the internet, so we just have to be patient and wait.

In the case of Caterham, they don’t have to talk to us too much about track days and performance since they’re almost always out there.

With that in mind, their promised range expansion seems to have kicked off with something which makes getting a Caterham more affordable.

It’s not a new car, but we can be very happy to know that it’s not some sort of cologne, winter shoes or anything stupid like that.

This new product is a kart, which comes with quite the interesting package. You also get enter a low-cost karting championship hosted by them.

The price is roughly 8.000 USD before taxes. That actually makes things a bit disturbing since a lot of second hand cars can be acquired for that money.

Striping them out and beating the life out of it on a track shouldn’t be too expensive. Caterham do fight back with the rest of the program.

There’s no warranty as such but you do get a ARKS race license guidance, entry to a six-event season, technical support throughout, a paddock trolley and, of course, the CK-01 kart itself.

It’s starting to sound like a great deal. You’d also be one of the first to participate in a project that brings back motorsport to the people.

That’s perhaps what matters more than anything else in a world that’s so bothered about carbon emissions and fuel economy.

Few companies survive and of those that do, most specialize in small track day cars that almost never have any use outside a closed stretch of tarmac.

Caterham is one of them, they’ve been making the Lotus 7 for decades now and are finally wising up as their CEO steps out to talk future.

For his company, that means a considerable range expansion by 2020. During the remaining eight year period there’s still plenty of stuff going on.

Obviously, they’ll want to create a range of cars that are fun to drive. Without such products they would have probably been dead by now.

In order to really get into the money making stride the range expansion will have to be somewhat more dramatic. Caterham CEO Mike Gascoyne is talking supercars and SUVs.

The first category shouldn’t be that much of a stretch. They’re good with speed, they’re good with technology, they have a Formula 1 team to get some help from and so on.

The interior might be a stretch but where did the SUV idea come from? Sure, they seem to be continuously selling these days, but don’t you have to make a good one to make a difference?

Unless Caterham have sorted out some sort of alliance or technical partnership with any other major manufacturer, it seems very hard to see how it would happen.

Still, they have the best part of a decade to show me how wrong I am. While they do that, I’m going to still be looking forward to those models that are fun.
