French carmaker Citroen will be also present in Geneva with a new concept which will preview the future C3 Picasso. It is about the all-new Citroen C-Aircross, the concept being recently presented ahead the event.

In terms of visuals, the concept takes its inspiration from other French models currently on the market, like the all-new C3 or C4 Cactus, meaning front and rear protective shields, raised bonnet, DRLs for the front grille, updated front bumper air inlets, side door guards with air outlets, rear diffuser and so on.

The concept also features lots of new tweaks that makes it stand-out from the crowd. We are looking here at two side cameras replacing the side mirrors, adding as well rear-hinged door design from the Aircross and CXperience, panoramic sunroof, and so on.

We are dealing here with the long-rumored Citroen Aircross SUV, which was first seen in flash as a concept model in Shanghai, two years ago.

According to recent reports issued by CarNewsChina, the SUV would arrive on the Chinese market under the C5 Aircross nameplate and coming with a seven-seat configuration.

The future Citroen C5 Aircross SUV is expected to stand on the company`s new EMP2 architecture, also underpinning other models within the PSA Group, like the brand-new Peugeot 3008 and Citroen C6, meaning that it will be more lightweight and accommodate more legroom at the rear.

Also, the new platform will allow the fitting of a wide array of engines, including a high-performance 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, with 203 horsepower and 80 Nm of torque. The power will be sent to all wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. As expected, the company will also release a PHEV version later on.

As for the production line, the all-new Citroen Aircross SUV will be built in China at the PSA Group`s Dongfeng-PSA joint venture plant, and will cost at least 210,000 yuan, the equivalent of $30,430, and could could go up to 320,000 yuan, or $46,370.

Once arriving in China, and perhaps later on in Europe, the Citroen C5 Aircross will become the direct competitor of the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan.
