This is truly a revolution in the automobile industry and I´m so happy to be part of this process. In the midst of the rise of traditional gasoline engine cars, the market for electric cars is filled with creativity and innovation. Amidst this enormous wave of electric vehicles, there is one model that exemplifies, in design, functionality, and ecologically friendliness above the rest — the Karma Revero. This model of Karma Revero is an intriguing mixture of opulence and environmental responsibility that is changing the electric car market as well as the awareness of people saving the planet.

History of Karma

Karma Revero

First, it’s important to look at the history behind Karma Revero to better understand what sets it apart from other vehicles. Did you know that Karma Automotive is a Southern California-based luxury electric vehicle manufacturer that was founded in 2010? Probably no. The company emerged from the ashes of Fisker Automotive, the manufacturer of the Fisker Karma, a plug-in hybrid luxury sports car, but… later, the company was reorganized in 2014 to create Karma, which bought the assets of Fisker Automotive.

Karma Automotive has sunk more of its money into new technology, new suppliers, a new production facility in Moreno Valley, California since its inception, and is still trying to find the right tone and quality of its branding. 2017 saw them launch the Karma Revero, which is based on the Fisker Karma, although with better technology and a bit more practise on sustainable living. After the Karma Revero production began, since then, the car has been showered with heaps of praises for its great design, the way it makes use of materials to make a smaller impact on the environment, and its luxurious feel like a high end brand.

Design of the Karma Revero

Karma Revero

The Revero’s exterior has a sleek futuristic look with just a touch of old-school glamour reminiscent of luxurious cars of the golden age. This Pininfarina body developed in an Italian design house that has been behind some of the sexiest cars in the world is right in line with the aesthetics and technology. The car has an elongated shape, a smooth line of the roof, and solid galvanically sealed doors giving the car a refined look and making it look sporty; its wide track and muscular wheel arches give it a powerful look.

One particular aspect of the Karma Revero is the uniquely elongated glass roof that permits lots of light into the automobile’s cabin and makes the vehicle’s enclosed space feel big and unconstricted. This, together with the standard panoramic sunroof, presents the clearest vision of the outside world. As for the materials used, the Karma Revero really can be considered a rather luxurious car: genuine leather, genuine wood, and all the best that is currently being offered to manufacturers.

Performance of the Karma Revero

Karma Revero

Not only is it stylish and luxurious, but it also provides quite an exciting drive. Driven by an electric motor, the Karma Revero produces 540 horsepower, and it runs from 0 to 60 mph within a time frame of 4.5 seconds. The top speed is 201 km/h. This immense ability is due to the 28 kWh battery that it carries, which offers a chance to travel up to 579 km driving only an electric car. Further, the Karma Revero has a regenerative braking system that is able to harvest energy lost when braking and store it in the battery for use.

Unlike most electric automobile productions, the Karma Revero can switch from being a purely electric car to a performance model. This provides the driver the flexibility of having an extra long battery range while at the same time having an optional turbocharged power plant on the same vehicle to switch for high performance when desired.

Sustainability

The first fact that makes Karma Revero stick out in the crowd of electric vehicles is that the company is fundamentally committed to sustainability. During operation and manufacturing, the Karma Revero is powered completely by renewable energy. This has the advantage of helping the universe as it is environmentally friendly and also has the added advantage of making consumers spend less when using energy compared to when using regular bulbs.

Moreover, Karma Automotive utilized a zero-landfill manufacturing policy which means that no waste is generated during the assembly of the car. They also have recycling policies that can enable them to reuse or recycle a vast majority of whatever they use in production.

Karma Revero’s Advanced Technology

Karma Revero Interior

Of course, besides sustainability, the Karma Revero comes with features of the range’s top technologies offered in the market. It has a 17-speaker, 1280-watt sound system, which is specifically from Harmon Kardon and gives out great sound and feels powerful. To this list, the Karma Revero also adds a fully digital environment with a 20.3-inch high-definition tablet-style touchscreen display. Also, an interface control panel and the innovation of a digital rearview mirror that has both better clarity and a wider view of the car’s rear than the traditional mirror are also added to this beauty.

Conclusion

As one of the most avant-garde car models on the market, the Karma Revero can be described as a luxurious vehicle with futuristic features and eco-friendliness at its core. It has become a significant reference point in the EV market as to what can be considered the direction that the luxury car of the future might take. This reminds us of a time when we still regulate the growth of transportation through electric power sources, and thus purchasing a Karma Revero is more like an experience of a lifetime.

The Karma brand has been out of the limelight for a while, but it seems the marque is returning to the main stage and that too with a bang. The American luxury electric car maker is back with another car dubbed the GS-6.

The company released a car in 2017, which wasn’t able to live up to the mark. The price tag of $130,000 was too high and on par with competitors like Porsche. The only way that the brand could make an impact was to introduce a product that was affordable.

Hence, the Karma GSe-6 was introduced last year with a base price of $81,700. Now the company wants to go even further and it does that with the Karma GS-6. The brand-new car is an extended-range version (PHEV for short) and it is built for those who want more mileage out of their luxury electric vehicle. The PHEV starts at an incredible price of $85,700. That might sound hard to believe but Karma has made it possible.

The GSe-6 has an 85-kWh battery that is good for 230 miles of range. A 103 kWh battery pack is also planned that will take the range north of 300 miles. However, the GS-6 will have 330 miles of range at full capacity.

Karma’s PHEV will be powered by two motors along with the engine, taking power to the rear-wheels to produce a combined 536 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. The company claims that the car accelerates from standstill to sixty in 4.5 seconds, whereas the sport version does the same in 3.9 seconds. The GS-6 has a 28kWh battery that provides supplementary power and it can be charged to 80% capacity in 34 minutes using a fast charger. The regular charger, on the other hand, can take up to 4 hours to charge the battery completely.

Fisker is a new company, trying out everything possible to become competitive on the market but they’re not doing too well so far.

Thankfully, they American company just got a bit of a break as one of the most important actors in Hollywood, one of the most capable influencers of the electrically powered car.

Fisker Karma

As one of the driving forces behind the Toyota Prius hybrid car, Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the first early adopters and now he’s turned his attention to the Karma.

After all, the Fisker Karma is certainly a more eco-friendly and politically correct model than the Prius.

Let’s also not forget that the Fisker Karma is considerably more luxurious than the Prius. That, in turn, makes it considerably more fitting for a Hollywood star that’s used to being driven in limos.

Fisker Karma

The partnership between Leonardo DiCaprio and Fisker isn’t all that new. The actor has been involved with the company since pretty much the beginning.

What is now going to change is that Di-Caprio will be actively involved in the publicity for the Karma.

Apparently, the star actor has been an investor in the company since the beginning and he’s done his fair share of promoting already.

Fisker Karma

So far, just over 1000 units of the Fisker Karma have been delivered and tough more orders are coming in, the company will need to do considerably better before it becomes profitable.

The newly increased price will probably not help the equation too much but if they boost the reliability of the actual car, things could considerably look up.

The 2012 Fisker Karma is the plugin hybrid vehicle that everybody is waiting for and, at the same time, it’s been doing the “fashionably late” scenario a little over the top.

Hardly a few deliveries have been made yet the American company announces that the price was raised and this time it’s actually a consistent change.

2012 Fisker Karma

The price bump of the 2012 Fisker Karma tacks on another $7.000 to the so far announced price, which isn’t really that much for a luxury car.

Even so, nobody will look very impressed with the Fisker Karma’s new price. Bringing the grand total to a starting sticker of $102.000 for the base Karma Eco Standard takes it past a crucial landmark.

America has never been very pleased with cars that have prices written in six figures, no matter how impressive they are.

2012 Fisker Karma

I’m sure most of you still remember the sort of problems GM ran into when Chevrolet’s Corvette ZR1 cost well over the 100.000 mark.

For Fisker things only get worse as 102.000 is the price for their entry level version and you can still end up paying up to $116.000 for the top of the line model.

Nobody is saying the american plugin-hybrid isn’t an impressive car but as more cost is added on, the appeal of the 2012 Fisker Karma is starting to drop.

Fisker spokesman Roger Ormisher said that their company is doing their best not to affect customers. They will be offering the original sub 100.000 grand price to some customers.

2012 Fisker Karma

By this they are referring to those who’ve put down their deposit and who finalize their Fisker Karma orders by January 15, 2012.

All of this “generosity” is kind of needed, especially if considering how the Fisker Karma is rated as a subcompact.

Petrolheads never really got along with the legislators, mostly because the latter keep trying to starve our cars of power, noise and plenty of other niggles.

This time however, it seems like the legislators have gone on to make a decision that will almost certainly make petrolheads laugh their heads off.

Fisker Karma

According to the chaps at EPA, the new Fisker Karma is a sub-compact. We’re talking about a 2.5 ton car that is 16.5 feet long and they call it a subcompact.

Even though i’m struggling to find the keys due to my laughter shaking me apart, there actually is some logic in the EPA’s lunacy.

Fisker Karma

That subcompact rating went to the Fisker Karma because the legislators started rating cars depending on interior size rather than exterior one.

On that front, the Fisker Karma offers up less than 100 cubic fit and thus becomes a subcompact. I think nobody minds interior space but rating cars only on this basis is rather sad.

After all, by this account, plenty of other cars get rated as subcompacts despite nearly being the size of battleships.

Fisker Karma

The rating is accurate for some small cars like Audi TT, Chevrolet Sonic and Volkswagen Beetle but fails in this case.

The new EPA “subcompact” rating also includes vehicles like the Aston Martin Rapide, Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible and the Ford Mustang.

After hearing about countless problems and delays regarding the Fisker Karma, its production and market availability fans and customers can finally breathe easy.

This is because this little piece of news about the Fisker Karma is actually positive and stands for one less hurdle to overcome on its way to the market.

2012 Fisker Karma

The Fisker Karma finally got through its EPA testing and it received a sticker telling us the sort of fuel economy it can manage or at least officially.

According to the U.S. authority’s testing program, the Fisker Karma can manage 52 MPGe, which is a bit of a disappointment.

The all-electric range of the Fisker Karma can span no more than 32 miles and when the juice runs out you’ll be getting around 20 mpg from the range extending petrol engine.

2012 Fisker Karma

The figures aren’t bad really, but they’re quite the distance away from what Fisker was originally promising to deliver as they claimed the Karma can manage 67.2 MPGe.

Another let down comes from the electric only range which the manufacturer had been telling us could go as far as 50 miles on batteries alone.

There’s a bit of controversy around this rating, and while some are already having fun with the disappointment of the EPA announced figures, company’s CEO announced that he still thinks that owners will beat this estimate on a regular basis.

2012 Fisker Karma

If I’m honest, I’m not surprised by the new figures as the Fisker Karma is situated in to high a class to be produced as a light car, this translates to somewhat lower fuel economy at the end of the day.

Just as promised only a few days ago, Fisker unveiled a new model, the Surf, at the debut of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Also just as promised is what the Fisker Surf is, <del datetime="2011-09-13T21:12:33+00:00">an estate</del> a shooting break version of the Fisker Karma.

Fisker Surf

The lack of surprises continues somewhat when you see that the design of the new bits, everything round the back, have been “inspired” by Ferrari’s FF.

Nevertheless, the new Fisker Surf does have a joy of styling feature about its design and it still feels special despite the very similar look to the Karma.

Fisker Surf

Adding a new set of windows, a larger rear screen and a little extra body work is claimed not to have added more than 66 pounds to the final weight of the Fisker Surf.

That’s a pretty good thing since the environmentally oriented Surf still carries as the same sort of drivetrain as the Karma which consists of a couple of electric motors and a 2.0 liter range extender.

Fisker Surf

Together they make for some serious performance reading, with 403 horsepower being chucked out by the electric motors and the range extender is a GM sourced 2.0 liter turbocharged powerplant with up to 260 horses available on tap.

In the future, and by the time the Fisker Surf sees series production, the range extender will be supplied by BMW.

Fisker isn’t exactly a company that’s enormous, full of money and which has a model lineup which includes hundreds of models but this isn’t putting a hamper on their plans.

The luxury American car maker will be unveiling a new model at the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and it presents quite the interesting situation.

Fisker Surf Concept

Called the Fisker Surf, it’s not going to be the earlier rumored crossover but something more stylish, a shooting brake.

Don’t expect anything revolutionary though, Fisker may have been busy contracting BMW for engine supply deals but they’re not exactly swimming in cash at the moment.

2012 Fisker Karma

The new Fisker Surf will actually be based on the Fisker Karma, featuring a new set of looks and a considerably improved amount of interior and luggage space.

While Fisker will be unveiling the new Surf Concept as a nearly ready to run model, it’s most likely to be little more than a design study meant to probe the public opinion.

2012 Fisker Karma

A battery pack does steal some of the interior space so the Fisker Surf may be welcomed but if that happens let’s hope that if they decide to make it, it won’t be delayed as much as the Karma.

More details are expected to be announced next week during the official unveiling of the Fisker Surf during the soon to open German motor show.

Fisker’s not the sort of company that comes in second when it comes to just about any aspect except being on time. As part of their no nonsense attitude we’ve just seen them get out of a meeting with Bavaria’s finest.

And I’m not talking about the German police here chaps, I mean BMW, the company that has been winning more engine of the year awards than anybody else in the game.

Fisker Karma

Fisker isn’t exactly churning out too many models at the same time but that’s not stopping them prep for yet another model, the Nina.

It’s this Fisker Nina that’s going to make use of the recent deal with BMW as part of their new drivetrain layout. Fisker is still high and mighty with the electrically powered cars but they haven’t lost all their sense.

Fisker Karma

For the long trips and various situations where you can’t charge up the Nina, you’ll be relying on BMW’s 2.0 liter turbocharged four pot in order to move about.

Just in case you’re not content with having 184 horsepower available on hand, the twin-turbo one has 245 horsepower on hand so you won’t be wanting for sporty behavior.

Fisker Karma

Very little detail is available on the rest of the transaction but we’re told that the chaps at BMW will be supplying Fisker with around 100.000 units of the aforementioned engine so perhaps the Nina is going to be sold in pretty large numbers.

Fisker is a very interesting company. I mean it, given how the world works now with the acceptance of electrically powered vehicles, they decided to come up with something new that requires early adoption.

Not sure about why they would do it but as it happens, we’re now told that they plan to unveil some sort of crossover that’s powered electrically at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Fisker Karma S Convertible

Much like their Fisker Karma, it will most likely benefit from the same sort of electric motor, battery and control arrangement while still retaining the range “get out of jail free card” – a range extender.

Fisker was known for making a business case for a new lineup, thus including what could be an SUV type of car, but we had little hearing of what’s coming up with a possible crossover.

The best case scenario would be that Fisker doesn’t exactly have all the cash it needs to develop a new platform, the sort which would be implied by an SUV.

Fisker Karma S Convertible

With a crossover, the Californian car company would once again, be using a “get out of jail free card” since they can basically “recycle” the Fisker Karma‘s drivetrain and underpinnings.

Apart from these assumptions we’re missing out on the details of what the Fisker crossover could be like, but happily, the American company will have a slightly bigger Frankfurt Motor Show booth than that.

With the new unveiling of the crossover Fisker is going to turn up at the German motor show with a smaller model, the Nina, something that’s supposed to be a lot more practical and affordable than their normal lineup.

Fisker Karma S Convertible

Don’t worry though, Fisker doesn’t plan to make small and ugly cars for a living. As it happens, they also plan to unveil the facelifted version of the 2009 Fisker Karma S Convertible.

It seems like the EV part of a new car isn’t going to change the appearance of glamorous cars or exquisite details that make a boulevard cruiser.

Regarding some of the details underneath the upcoming Fisker attractions, a new four-wheel drive drivetrain is in the works, one which includes a two speed gearbox.

Fisker Karma S Convertible

It may not sound like the edge of progress but gearboxes that work with electric motors are substantially different from the normal ones so the new two speed unit would allow for better range and a higher top speed.
