With the formal unveiling of the graphics for its Formula 1 single-seater for the 2026 season, Aston Martin has made the announcement. It has been decided that Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will be the drivers of the new AMR26 single-seater.
Aston Martin is the most recent team to unveil its brand-new single-seater Formula 1 vehicle for the championship season of 2026. Two factors contribute to the fact that this year represents the beginning of a new era for the British side.

To begin, the new Aston Martin AMR26 single-seater is the first single-seater that the team has ever produced. It was designed by the great Adrian Newey, who has previously designed single-seaters for Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, all of which have won world championships.

Aston Martin, on the other hand, announced this year that they have a new power unit supplier. The British team will be using Honda power units for the upcoming season, after having used Mercedes engines for the previous five seasons.

The new single-seater that will be implemented for the 2026 Formula 1 season will have graphics that are comparable to those of the previous season. With the exception of the bottom sides, which are painted in a contrasting black color, the majority of the car is painted in a dark green color. In addition, there are grello accents that can be seen on the air intake, as well as on the sides and in the front compartment.

To this day, the lineup of drivers is the same as it was in 2025.

Therefore, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will be working together for the fourth season in a row throughout this season. Adrian Newey will begin his tenure as the new team principal, succeeding Andy Cowell in this role.

For better or for worse, high-speed racing is inherently dangerous for the drivers as well as on-track crews and even spectators who are attending in person. Formula 1 is certainly very well organized, and a lot of attention is paid to safety, yet it remains a competition that can claim lives without warning. Dozens of F1 drivers met a tragic end after accidents that occurred during the official races, although the number of fatalities is steadily declining with each passing decade.

Revisiting some of the most perilous crashes from the past of Formula One is a way to honor the lost lives and keep road safety in focus in the modern era. Here are a few dangerous moments to remember.

Table of Contents

Italian Grand Prix 1961

San Marino Grand Prix 1994

San Marino Grand Prix 1989

Belgian Grand Prix 1982

German Grand Prix 1976

Belgian Grand Prix 1998

Italian Grand Prix 1961

To this day, the 1961 race in Monza remains the deadliest in the entire F1 history. The horrendous crash killed a very talented driver, Wolfgang von Trips, who was driving a Ferrari at the time. Angling for the best time, von Trips smashed into the crowd standing next to a difficult curve, resulting in the death of 15 spectators. This untold tragedy shocked the racing world, especially since von Trips was on his way to winning the championship that year. This experience motivated Formula 1 to insert protective barriers between the audience and the track and adopt other safety measures, reducing the chance of a car breaching the area reserved for visitors.

San Marino Grand Prix 1994

Every serious Formula 1 fan knows this race – the death of Ayrton Sena is one of the most iconic moments of the sport. The Brazilian driver was at the height of his legendary career, but a single error obliterated it in a split second. He couldn’t navigate a notorious curve at the Imola racetrack and smashed into a concrete barrier at full speed. His injuries were immense, and despite a quick reaction by the medical team, he didn’t live long enough to reach the hospital. The event was such a worldwide sensation that F1 management decided to prevent any other drivers from dying on the track – and to this day they have been successful.

San Marino Grand Prix 1989

A few years before Sena met his tragic fate at Imola, the same track was the scene of a very similar incident. During the race, Gerhard Berger had trouble at the same Tamburello Corner that killed Sena, and endured a high-speed one-car crash. His vehicle caught fire from the impact, making for a dramatic look on live television. Thanks to a timely reaction from firefighters, Berger was miraculously pulled from the car with only minor injuries. Sadly, nothing was done to prevent another incident of the same kind from happening again, with far more serious consequences.

Belgian Grand Prix 1982

A highly popular Canadian F1 driver was killed while still in his prime years, in one of the biggest what-ifs in the records of the sport. Giles Villeneuve was in his seventh year on the circuit and had the highest F1 betting odds in Canada history to become the champion. This dream was dashed when he made a fatal mistake during qualifications at the Belgian Grand Prix and paid the ultimate price. Ironically, the problem was that the other driver, Villeneuve was trying to pass, was moving too slowly, and the result of the ramming was that Villeneuve’s car was launched high into the air before crashing hard and completely falling apart. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and suffered terminal injuries. Decades later, his son, Jacque Villeneuve, fulfilled the father’s mission and became the first Canadian F1 champion.

German Grand Prix 1976

Niki Lauda was widely regarded as the best Formula 1 driver of his era, but even he couldn’t avoid a scary accident. The race at Nurburgring was held in bad weather, and Lauda had to guess which sections of the track were wet, a predicament made worse by the fact that he was using slick tires. The car slipped and hit the embankment at full speed before being hit from behind by a car driven by Brett Lunger. The Ferrari he was in went up in flames, and Lauda was unable to exit, so he suffered a lot of permanent damage in the incident, but was eventually saved. Undeterred by this experience, he continued to race aggressively and won two more F1 championships after this crash.

Belgian Grand Prix 1998

This is another example of how poor visibility can cause trouble, but this time the number of cars involved was much greater. One of the drivers traveling in a tightly packed group (possibly David Coulthard) lost control of his vehicle, mowing a bunch of other cars as he spun. In the end, 13 drivers got entangled in this mega crash with so much debris spread around the track that the race had to be stopped temporarily. Fortunately, there were no head-on collisions at high speed, so all the drivers got away relatively unscathed. A pileup of this proportion hasn’t been seen since the 1998 incident remains a reminder why you can never relax during a seemingly uneventful race.

The cars have been revealed for the upcoming 2020 Formula One season and as usual, everyone has their opinion as to which is the best looking. Unfortunately, you don’t get points for looking good but that doesn’t stop them making some stunning looking machines. We take a look a some of the best looking F1 cars of 2020.

Haas VF20

Haas didn’t have much to shout about last year and that could be the case again. They have retained their under-performing driver line-up of Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen but at least they have a good looking car. The actual physical design of the car may not look anything special but the way the colour scheme has been applied brings it to life. The mixture of red, black and white is a classic combination which looks great on the circuit. The nose cone looks much better than some of the other efforts too.

AlphaTauri AT01

The team formerly known as Toro Rosso have taken full advantage of their change of sponsor to completely change their livery. The result is a dramatic black-and-white look which takes branding to the extreme. It is a little garish at first glance but once your eyes become accustomed to it and start to notice how the design details of the car work together with the matte paint job, it really grows on you. Some serious work has gone into this skin and the designers certainly earned their payday on this one. Let’s hope it runs as good as it looks.

Williams FW43

Okay, there may be a bit of a sympathy vote going on here. Williams hasn’t had much to cheer about in recent years and they begin this season as rank outsiders to win the constructor’s championship in the F1 betting. But at least this year they have a car that will look great in everyone else’s mirrors. The British team will head to the grid draped in red, white and blue and while it feels a little like they are attention-seeking here, the design is actually really cool. The paintwork is very bold with some great design cues such as the two-tone halo, black skirt and components. And there is some smart use of the title sponsor’s branding.

Much of the core architecture of the FW42 remains which will worry fans hoping for a turnaround in the team’s fortunes in 2020. But that might not be a bad thing. It just depends on how many of that car’s weaknesses have been addressed over the winter. But still, it is one of the best-looking cars we have seen in recent years and Williams fans finally have something to feel good about.

Close but no cigar

Renault was heading to the top of our list with their stunning looking RS20 which was appeared with an all-black paint job which had everybody drooling. Unfortunately, they then revealed that the race car would revert back to a yellow and black design. The news was greeted with collective groans from fans who were excited by the prospect of seeing their shadow-like machine ghosting around Melbourne in March.

The least inspiring car design is probably the new Mercedes but that won’t worry Lewis Hamilton too much as he aims for yet another World Drivers’ Championship.

Most of us do not realize that fitness and mental conditioning play an important role in the success of a F1 driver. Drivers like Lewis Hamilton who have 1/12 odds of winning the 2019 Driver’s Championship have extremely high levels of fitness which helps them to win races and be successful. The best workouts for F1 drivers are detailed below:

Goblet Squat

Goblet Squat is the preferred exercise for most F1 drivers for building leg and core strength. Leg and core strength are important for drivers as they need to apply great downward force for applying the brakes on their F1 car on sharp turns. You can start this exercise by holding dumbbells in both your hand close to your chest. You should stand a little wider with both your feet spread apart. You can start squatting down slowly in this position. It is necessary to keep your heels on the floor and the weight in the middle of your body while doing the goblet squat. You should lower your body till your thighs are at 90-degrees to the floor and then start pushing upwards. 4 sets of goblet squat with 12 reps are recommended.

Dumbbell Press-Up

Dumbbell Press-Up is a good exercise for improving your core strength and spine. These muscles are important for F1 drivers as it helps them remain stable in the car while racing. You should get yourself in a press-up position with dumbbells in both your hands. While you do so, you should ensure to keep your balance properly. You should then lower your chest towards the floor while keeping your elbows tucked in. Once you reach the floor, you should exert pressure and push yourself back upwards. You should repeat this process for working out the core strength. It is important to squeeze your core each time while pressing up during this workout. You can try 4 sets of the dumbbell press-up with 10 reps.

Renegade Row

The Renegade Row is a great exercise for developing core body strength. It helps the drivers to manage the force experienced while taking corners. It also builds upper back strength which keeps the drivers injury free. To get started, you should get yourself into a press-up position with dumbbells in both your hands. You should keep your elbows still and pull up the dumbbell in the other arm to your chest. It is important to keep your hips and shoulders completely stable. You can then press the dumbbell downwards and repeat the process with the other arm. You should do this exercise for 4 times with 10 reps for each side.

Half-Kneeling Shoulder Press

This exercise helps to develop strong shoulders and upper body strength which is crucial during racing. It helps the drivers to absorb the high G-forces without potential injuries. You can start by kneeling on your left leg and by holding the dumbbell up to shoulder height of your right hand. You should push the dumbbell upwards by taking care not to lean backward or sideways to counter the weight. Lower the dumbbell after reaching the maximum extension of your arms upwards. You should do at least 4 sets of this exercise with 10 reps per side to get the best results.

Back in the good old days, McLaren used to top all its opponents with the high-end and iconic McLaren F1 supercar, which made people wonder if there would be a genuine successor of the model.

McLaren`s Special Operations, the carmaker`s exclusive division, is reportedly working on a true successor of the F1.

The report was issued by Autocar and is stating that the MSO might be indeed working on a new project, called BP23, which would be a limited edition as well. Someone close to the source also mentioned:

“It applies the F1’s three-seat configuration to a different need: rapid, cross-continental travel with supreme speed and style. The result will be the most exquisitely crafted and luxurious road-going McLaren yet made.”

In case this happens, it won`t have many things in common with the current high-performance McLaren P1, which is the epiphany of technology and performance, using an extremely potent hybrid powertrain under the hood. The future F1 is announced to come with pure power, packing a conventional powertrain.

The sheer performance would be also given by an extremely lightweight chassis, all built from aluminum and carbon fiber, especially designed to house a three-seat cockpit and the same famous central driving position, just like the former McLaren F1.

Unfortunately, the details list is rather scarce at the moment, but we should expect fresh news next year, with an official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
