Anyone with knowledge of cars will automatically associate it with the Koenigsegg brand with ingenuity and great engineering work. The brand originating from Sweden has been in the business of carving its own path and the Gemera doesn’t deviate from that strategy at all.

This beautiful car is not only the first four-seater of the company but is also the first car with an all-wheel drive system to be designed and developed by Koenigsegg. Certainly, one of the most interesting features of the Gemera is that it does not have the use of a conventional differential, which is quite daring given the context of current trends and priorities of the brand. In the following article, we look at the operational details of this feature and understand why the car stands out in the hypercar class.

Koenigsegg Gemera

This is because differentials are part of nearly all automobiles, as they afford the wheels of your car to rotate at different speeds – especially when making a turn. Still, the Koenigsegg Gemera leaves the conventional means of vehicles behind as it does not have a differential at all. However, it does not use a simple flow chart that many other gambling machines employ, but a far more sophisticated and effective system.

The founder of Koenigsegg, Christian von Koenigsegg, has shed a lot of light on this decision in a video he appeared in. The drivetrain has a mid-mounted twin-turbo V-8 engine and comes bundled with Koenigsegg Light Speed Tourbillon or LST nine-speed transmission. This characteristic deviates from what is standard for a transaxle assembly where normally straight CV joints are extended from a differential.

The Light Speed Tourbillon (LST) Transmission

LST transmission is the key point in the Gemera’s driving mechanism. While the differential is incorporated into other cars, the LST has two “cassettes” on each side of the car. These cassettes transmit power forward to the wheels while functioning similarly to an electronic locking differential. However, there are differences between these types of LST and the standard setup in which power is turned 90 degrees relative to the output shaft. This meant, for instance, there was free space for the mid-mounted V-8 engine of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

Each of them contains a hydraulic one that controls the power of the wheels in question. What makes this setup remarkable is the fact that it performs the function of a differential and does it using elements that are not encapsulated and are, therefore, larger in size. This is made possible by the design of the system, which allows the number and fine control in torque distribution.

All-Wheel Drive and Electric Motor Integration

The Gemera is designed to be an all-wheel-drive car and therefore the LST transmission includes an output shaft to the front axle. On the front side of this shaft, an electric motor is included, which adds an additional level of complexity and flexibility to the drive mechanism of the vehicle.

Surprisingly, the front axle also contains a differential, which is not actually a differential in fact. For this layout, there are bevel gears and hydraulic clutches for each of the wheels, like the rear only. This decision also helps the carmaker to provide fully variable 4-wheel torque vectoring that is applicable even in the EV mode of the car. They are the first and only car manufacturer to employ a single electric motor that can do such complicated torque vectoring and such is the traditional incense of Koenigsegg.

Unique Capabilities and Features

This is due to the fact that the absence of a conventional differential brings out several advantages, as seen below. One of the most amazing ones is its capability of fully variable four-wheel torque vectoring in the EV mode, which is brand new in the automotive world. This feature makes it respond well to the force that is applied to it and grants the car a good grip on the road regardless of the terrain.

Still, the latest engineering innovation in the Gemera’s control system is the brake torque vectoring, yet another dimension of the vehicle handling. This feature helps in adjusting the configuration of the braking force to the wheels, which helps in increasing safety and control while cornering.

Personal Reflection

As an automobile lover who loves the spirit of innovation, the Koenigsegg Gemera is all about innovation when it comes to the drivetrain. It is a rather risky move to replace an ordinary differential with a replacement of an effective technological differential that is more sophisticated. This is an exemplary vehicle from Koenigsegg, and it shows why the manufacturer is unrelenting and striving to create something that is virtually unbeatable in the production car market.

The simplicity of the design of the LST transmission and its coupling with the electric motor and hydraulic clutches is a masterpiece in contemporary engineering. It demonstrates that a nonstandard perspective when developing a car can help create something that is revolutionary and transforms the expectations of car manufacturing and using markets.

End Note

The absence of differential design in Koenigsegg Gemera is therefore a clear indication that the car maker is willing to innovate, with the aim of delivering performance on the road. In car transmission, it boasts of its Light Speed Tourbillon transmission to deliver a remarkable drivetrain as a hypercar.

Looking to the next generation of cars, the design of the Gemera illustrates the best of what can be accomplished by properly marrying engineering and design. This is an excellent illustration of the belief that in the Koenigsegg universe, everything begins at a point that is conventionally unexceptional and then rises to the next level.

End Note

The Koenigsegg Gemera is a modern masterpiece of work and signed a new time of hypercar myth. This particular aspect is typical for the brand since it lacks the conventional differential and has a highly developed and intricate system instead. But for those interested in automotive and related technology and innovation, the Gemera is a perfect example of the ingenuity of ideas combined with fantastic results in automotive engineering. Since they are continuously innovating in the automotive industry, it came as no surprise that the Gemera exists as a symbol of what man can bring forth.

What used to be a start-up company about ten years ago is now one of the most impressive supercar makers in the world – the Koenigsegg has built and still builds the most powerful hyper cars in the world.

And the 2017 Geneva Motor Show will welcome next week three special Koenigseggs in the shape of the monster Agera RS Gyphon and standard Regera, ready to blow away its competition with 1,360 horsepower.

The aforementioned hypercar is derived from the standard Agera yet packs a massive V8 twin-turbocharged engine with an impressive power. And all squeezed in a 1,295 kg platform.

In case you didn’t know, the car`s named after a mythical creature – the Gryphon – which comes with a lion-like body and legs, with the head, wings and talons of an eagle. The impressive mythical creature is highlighted at the exterior by carbon features and gold leaf across the badges, bonnet struts, engine and cabin.

Speaking of the car`s cabin, this is highlighted by Alcantara, anodized aluminum, polished carbon and the “Gryphon” text stitched into the dashboard in gold threat. Other features also refer to bespoke racing helmet from the same carbon fiber with gold leaf, which was hand-made in Angelholm.

Mechanically wise, the Koenigsegg Agera RS Gryphon also comes with a removable hardtop under the hood when it is not in use, adding as well superlight sound deadening, stability control, carbon ceramic brakes, hydraulic lifting system, and much more.

Besides the new Agera RS Gryphon, the carmaker will also introduce a couple of Regeras, which also come with exquisite performance and exquisite design. You will present these two supercars at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, next week.

One of the photographers from Motor1 auto magazine has recently managed to grab a couple of photos with the extraordinary Koenigsegg One:1 cruising the streets of fancy Monaco.

The model looks exquisite and gorgeous at the same time, providing an aggressive and mean attitude. It is so wonderfully built and packs one of the most advanced aerodynamics in the world at the moment. Not to mention the sheer performance under the hood.

The model in question is one of the fewest available on the market at the moment, with a price tag of more than $6 million, which is way too high than the asking price of $2.85 million. This one comes with number 00 and belongs to Carina Lima, a regular Instagram user who posts lots of photos with her supercar. This gorgeous Koenigsegg One:1 is available for sale through SuperVettura, which is an exclusive dealership in Britan.

As you probably know already, the outstanding Koenigsegg One:1 was first launched in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show, the hypercar coming as the successor of the Agera, packing a massive 5.0-liter V8 engine with whopping 1,360 horsepower and weighing just 2,998 pounds.

The enormous power allows for one of the most outstanding performance figures. We are looking here at a straight line from 0 to 100 km/h achieved in a mind-blowing 2.8 seconds, at a top speed of 300 km/h, achieved as well in a world record of 17.95 seconds.

You can find out more about this exquisite and rare Koenigsegg One:1 hypercar in the media gallery below. Enjoy and don`t forget to share your opinions with us!

The holder of the world record for the 0-186-0 mph run Koenigsegg One:1, has finally made its first debut in the United States, at the Auto Firm tuner, in Miami.

Unfortunately, this would be the first and the last One:1 to be launched in north America, the model being displayed at the Miami-based tuner.

In total, there are just five Koenigsegg One:1 supercars built so far, and each one comes with unique and personalized body features, in order to meet its customer`s demands.

This one seen here is a standout model, as it features white panels and gloss carbon fiber for the roof and roof scoop, splitter, bonnet, wing mirrors, rear wing, rear diffuser as well as for the wheels. The overall body is complemented by the red and bright headlights or the brake calipers.

Under the hood, this Koenigsegg One:1 packs a 5.0-liter V8 engine, churning out a whopping 1341 horsepower and 1371 Nm of torque. As aforementioned, the model holds the world lap record at the Spa Francorchamps, with 17.95 seconds from 0-186-0.

Apart the Koenigsegg One:1, the United States will also receive the first US-homologated Koenigsegg Agera RS soon enough, after the carmaker will officially document its production.

The famous supercar manufacturer Christian von Koenigsegg has recently announced the introduction of the Autoskin system on the Regera hybrid car.

The Autoskin system is actually a “robotized door system” which allows the driver to remotely control some body panels of the Regera.

As Christian stated, the system is “truly turning the Regera into a transformer”, as it is also based on inbuilt hydraulics which activate the car`s doors, boot lid as well as the bonnet. The system works just fine when the car has been recently cleaned for instance.

The exquisite Autoskin system was first seen on the Regera at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the feature also been declared the “world`s first fully foldable, active, top-mounted rear wing.” The automaker has not revealed the price tags at this moment, but we surely hope for new details in the upcoming period.

As a reminder, the Koenigsegg Regera uses the KDD system, incorporating a 5.0-liter V8 engine and three electric motors. The overall power stands at whopping 1500 horsepower, which makes it sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds. The manufacturer also claims that the Regera is “the most powerful electrical motor set-up in production car history.”

Enjoy the video with the Koenigsegg Regera Autoskin and don’t forget to share your impressions with us in the discussion section below!

When we first laid our hands on the Koenigsegg One:1 supercar, we knew from the start the were dealing with the most powerful megacar that the auto industry has ever had.

And the video below is not only demonstrating the skills that this supercar is coming with, but it also demolishes a world record in just a simple test track. But things don’t stop here.

Koenigsegg One:1 World Record Braking by Hands-Free Practice

Remember the world track record established in 2011 by the iconic Agera R, with just 21,19 seconds for a full run from 0 to 300 km/h? Well, this is nothing compared to the figures achieved by the Koenigsegg One:1 for the same distance.

Koenigsegg One:1

The Koenigsegg took 17,95 seconds for the same 0 to 100 km/h straight line run, which is 3.24 seconds faster, meaning that the Guinness World Record is now in the hands of this supercar. But things….still don’t stop here either! You might laugh, but I don’t want to put the Agera R in a tough spot: the world record was achieved by Robert Serwanski in a simple test, without any preparations and ….. without having his hands on the steering wheel! Now, that’s a world record worth keeping in the books forever! But the video speaks for itself!

Koenigsegg One:1

The Koenigsegg One:1 was launched back at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, competing against the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the megacar coming with a 5.0-liter aluminum engine, which goes as far as 1,3400 horsepower and whopping 1,371 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in just 2.8 seconds, at a topping of 450 km/h.

The Koenigsegg One:1 is perhaps the fastest supercar in the entire world, being showcased in different photos, rendered by different artists, receiving upgrades from famous tuning divisions worldwide or appearing in astonishing photo sessions.

And this time the Koenigsegg One:1 makes no exception, as it has recently appeared in a new photo session, all wrapped in a matte blue shade, photo session which was carried out at the Goodwood race track, a couple of days ago.

Koenigsegg One:1 – Photo Session

As a reminder, the Koenigsegg One:1 was first launched at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, as the direct competitor of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The megacar is packed by a 5.0-liter aluminum engine under the hood, developing an impressive 1,340 horsepower and whopping 1,371 Nm of torque. This would be just enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, at a topping of 450 km/h.

Koenigsegg One:1 – Photo Session

The famous Koenigsegg One:1 that managed to hold the world record on track will be costing somewhere between $600,000 and $700,000. Enjoy the short photo session with the one-off megacar, making an astonishing impression at the Goodwood.

Massive, packed with extraordinary force and delivering impressive power, this is how the Koenigsegg One:1 megacar looks nowadays. But sometimes, things can get out of hands as this model has received some one-off body style tweaks that would make anyone jealous for not having into his own garage.

It is the case of this particular Koenigsegg One:1 hot supercar which has just arrived in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the guys over the BHP Project, which deals with supercars photography, have thought of giving the model a warm welcoming by creating a short photo session with the megacar.

Koenigsegg One:1

As seen in the pictures, this Koenigsegg One:1 has arrived in UK wearing a blue carbon fiber paintjob, while other parts of the body have also received a black carbon fiber trim. To complement the entire body, a new set of carbon fiber wheels have been installed. Inside, the cabin is contrasting the overall design as well, with the blue and black leather and a few other cool features.

Koenigsegg One:1

But what made this beast one of the best megacars in the world, or perhaps the best, was the massive power it comes with under the hood. A 5.0-liter aluminum engine lies underneath, capable of producing a staggering 1,341 horsepower and whopping 1,371 Nm of torque. We started loving One:1 just right after its official debut on the market, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Enjoy the photo session!

It`s big, it`s fast and it is definitely one of the most powerful supercar on the planet, as the highly anticipated Koenigsegg Regera has finally reached the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. This would be the company`s second megacar to finally make its way out the manufacturing plant.

But the Keongisegg Regera is more than a megacar, as it uses an innovative technology called the KDD, or the Koengisegg Direct Drive, an electric system that makes the model churn out a whopping 1,500 horsepower and 1,475 pound-feet of torque, which is more even than the Koenigsegg One:1.

Koenigsegg Regera

The entire power is being delivered from a conventional 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 unit, backed by three electric motors. The entire powertrain is helped by the Koenigsegg Direct Drive, which replaces the conventional transmission and sends the power directly to the wheels.

Koenigsegg Regera

All together, the electric motors also provide the energy from the internal combustion engine, allowing for regenerative braking as well as torque vectoring. On top of that, the three electric motors are also powered by a 9.27-kWh battery.

Koenigsegg Regera

But the real performance are not yet to be revealed, as the Koenigsegg Regera is really reigning the roads with the most interesting figures achieved so far: we are talking here about an impressive acceleration from 0 to 400 km/h in less than 20 seconds, which is absolutely extraordinary. We will definitely here about it in the near future, meanwhile, enjoy the photo gallery with the Koenigsegg Regera being launched at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show!
